Kidd 346-6 Double Chop Forage Harvester

alwyn, henly20, rh

Background info

Mention the “Kidd” name to farmers and the majority of them will think of “double chop”. Kidd launched it’s double chop harvester in 1967, in a period when UK farmers were moving away from hay making and looking towards silage. Archie Kidd sold his business to the Wolseley group, who also purchased Parmiter and McConnel. Taarup then purchased Kidd in 1991 and in 1993, Taarup-Kidd was absorbed into the Kverneland Group.

The model

We have modeled a later model double chop with a 6ft (1.8m) cutting width. This model was typically used on tractors with 70hp and above; tractors such as 5000s, 7000s, 185s, 590s and the like.

Update 8th Dec 12

The proposed output fruit for the Kidd and JF have been discussed previously in their respective topics. Our Kidd and JF now have a script that gives you the option as to what you want your grass output to be – simply pressing Z swaps the output between Grass and Chaff.

On a an arable crop, e.g. barley, the harvesters only give you the option for a chaff output.

Both harvesters can lift a swath of grass – as they can in reality. Another bonus is the fact that mowed and direct cut forage quantities are very similar, and choosing grass or chaff makes no difference to the output quantity.

UPDATE TWO 8th December 2012
